ADVANCED SIMULATION TRAINING FOR ICU AEROMEDEVAC

International training course, for Airmen and Medical aircrews.


ICU patients are challenging healthcare professionals, especially when aero-medevac is needed. With our advanced training, you will improve medical skills and share experience with pilots around high fidelity simulation scenarios. Designed for Airmen and Medical Aircrew, this 5 days course covers all vital organe failures, alternating theorical briefs with advanced simulation sessions in our especially "grounded Hawker" in our Bordeaux's training facility. Course price for healthcare providers: 1500€ Course price for pilots and aircrews: 750€

Objectifs de la formation

  • Improving knowledge of specific constraints in Aeromedical flights, from pilots and medcrew points of view
  • Ehancing patient safety with both air and medcrew resource management
  • Using Aero-Nontechnical Skills (AeroNOTS) for Medevac flights
  • Managing major organs failure for severe patients in flight

Contenu de la formation

Day 1: General présentation and aeronautical constraints
  • Ice breaking coffee and Learning objectives presentation
  • Aeronautical courses around specificities of this missions, with pilots and medical presentations
  • Simulation pre-briefing for the week (simulation mannequin features, med-tools and med bags used for Simu presentation)
Day 2: Airways and Respiratory failure management
  • Workshop on medical equipment and procedural simulation (NIV, VAC, drainage, thoracic ultra-sound...)
  • Brainstorming session pilots/medcrew (aircraft pressurization, oxygen use...)
  • 4 simulated medevacs in multiprofessional environment (pilots and medcrew)
Day 3: Circulatory failure management
  • Workshop on medical equipment and procedural simulation (CPR inflight, ultra sound assessment, defibrillator and pacing...)
  • Brainstorming session pilots/medcrew (effects of flight dynamics, CPR training...)
  • 4 simulated medevacs in multiprofessional environment (pilots and medcrew)
Day 4: Neurological and psychiatric patients management
  • Workshop on medical equipment and procedural simulation (ICP monitoring, ultra sound cerebral assessment, SBISOS...)
  • Brainstorming session pilots/medcrew (flight safety and agitated patient...)
  • 4 simulated medevacs in multiprofessional environment (pilots and medcrew)
Day 5: Complex flights
  • Workshop on medical equipment and procedural simulation (ECMO flights, Hemofiltration presentation, polytraumatism)
  • 3 simulated medevac complex flights

Équipe pédagogique

SimAirlec is a healthsimulation training center, using innovative equipment to train healthcare providers in critical care and emergency situations. SimAirlec Facilitators are emergency doctors, anesthesiologist and iCU nurses who share professional shift between medevac flights, hospital duty time and simulation trainings. Our medical training facility is equipped with an Hawker 1000 dedicated to simulation sessions.
